Our Help

Scripture
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. (Psalm 121 NIV)

Devotion: The season of Lent is a time of reflection and spiritual renewal. It is a time to turn our attention to the Lord and seek His guidance and wisdom in our lives.

In Psalm 121, the psalmist reminds us that our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The psalmist declares that he will lift his eyes to the hills, asking where his help comes from. But the psalmist quickly realizes that it is not the hills that provide the answers he needs, but the One who made them.

We, too, may often look to the wrong things for guidance. We may think we can figure everything out independently, relying solely on our intuition and intellect. However, this self-reliance can often lead us down the wrong path. We need a personal relationship with the One who made us in order to find the guidance and direction we truly need.

The Bible tells us that the Lord orders the steps of a good man. We may stumble and fall along the way, but the One who loves us will not forsake us. He will even hold our right hand and guide us back to the right path. The Oneness watches over us around the clock, never leaving or forsaking us.

As we journey through this Lenten season, let us lift our eyes to the One who can truly guide and direct us. Let us trust in His guidance and seek His wisdom in all we do. Let us prioritize our souls’ needs above all other needs. May we find peace and comfort in knowing that the Lord is always with us, watching over us and guiding us every step of the way.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for continuing to guide our steps. Amen.
