Day 15: Friday, March 10, 2023
Linda Eden
“There’s something about that name”
Scripture: But whom say ye that I am? …Simon Peter answered Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:15-17 KJV)
Devotion: I laugh when people ask me my name. Which name should I give them? I know how to respond. If I am meeting them for the first time, I will give them my first name, Linda. But many times, it will depend on my relationship with them. For instance, when I attended my clown certification course, the first assignment was to choose a name for our clown and then write a short biography about how that name came about. I laughed because that was so easy. “Luci Joy” became my alter ego when I was in full makeup and costume. Luci for Lucille Ball and Joy which is a gift God gave to me to share with others. Other names came from my husband, my best friend, bullies, kids, grandkids, my college students, and others. The number of my name does not even come close to the 200-plus names in the Bible for JESUS, as well as those used in song lyrics such as Waymaker and Chainbreaker. There is a song by William and Gloria Gaither, “There Is Something About That Name” that so clearly illustrates this point. When the name of Jesus is uttered, lives can be transformed. By whatever name we choose to use can indicate the relationship we have with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Son who died on the cross for our sins. Help us to be a light so others may see your light shining in us. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
