Let Us Rejoice In The Lord; Jesus Is Our King!

Scripture: Psalm 97:11-12 (KJV) Light is sown for the righteous and gladness for the upright in heart: Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His Holiness!

Devotion: Another season of Advent is upon us. It is a time of celebration while we prepare to remember the birth of our Savior – Jesus Christ. We shall celebrate in song, cantatas, and prayers.

The season is fraught with religious symbolism like the Bible, the Star, the Chalice, and the Crown to name a few. The Bible signifies the opening of God’s living word. The Chalice, another of our symbols, signifies Christ’s self-giving in the Holy Communion. The Cross signifies God’s coming into Glory. The five-sided Star reminds us of the Epiphany and The Three Wise Men. Last but not least, the Crown reminds us about The Kingship of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, help us not to forget the cares of this world during this season of Advent. Fill our hearts with blessings as we grow closer to you. Amen.
